5 things I’ve Been Loving Lately

Pink lemonade as well as chocolate-chip cookies

Pink lemonade as well as chocolate-chip cookies! Hello, my new preferred snack.

El Hub believes I’m a bit nuts to like this combo as much as I do since for him, it’s all about milk as well as cookies (for dunking), however the pink lemonade combo is completely working for me.

Not to dunk though. I don’t dunk the cookies in the lemonade. I just like to have them together. I like the contrasting taste of the tart lemonade (ha! I practically composed “Tarte lemonade”) with the sweetness of the cookies.

Oh! — as well as lemonade has to be chilly as well as pink. Don’t ask me why; it just does.

I truly like Trader Joe’s Low-Calorie Pink Lemonade Made With organic Lemon Juice… As usual, TJ’s gets it right.

Kerastase Spray Fluidissime…for unruly bangs!

So I’ve had this bottle of Kerastase Spray Fluidissime ($42 for a 5.1 fl-oz. bottle) for a while, as well as it’s essentially an anti-frizz, thermal-protecting, shine-boosting spray that you spray on wet hair, as well as then either air or strike dry.

I mainly just utilized it on long sections of my hair from about mid-length down to the ends, where it does a excellent job, however for reasons unknown, it never occurred to me to try it on my bangs…

Until the other day.

Wow, it works great! It tames my mischievous, frizzy side-swept bangs, which have gotten long as well as rebellious lately since I’m method overdue for a trim.

This spray completely tames their inner beast. I just spray a few spritzes on my bangs while they’re wet, then dry with a clean as well as a hair dryer.

It makes my hair smooth, silky as well as well-behaved, as well as it holds the side-swept shape perfectly.

I liked this spray before…BUT now I LURVE IT.

This “K” mug from HomeGoods

First things first, I requirement to stop going to HomeGoods…

Because each time I walk in there, I walk out with one more mug, as well as I am the LAST person in the world who needs one more mug.

Let me put it this way: there are only two unfortunate glasses in my kitchen area cupboard (because El Hub, who works part time as a bull in a china shop, broke the rest) as well as about 20 mugs.

This one is my new favorite. I got it to replace the Anthropologie mug I utilized to have that had the letter “K” on it because, surprise! — El Hub broke it.

This one is by signature Housewares, as well as it was just $4. It’s huge as well as deep, as well as I like that it doesn’t get molten hot when I warm something up in the microwave.

I will delight in the time we have together up until El Hub breaks it…which ought to occur a long time within the next few weeks.

Sephora neat Detangling Comb

This $8 hot pink detangling comb has seen a great deal of utilize because the Sephora haul I did a while back.

I like this dang thing. I utilize it in the shower at night to work conditioner with my hair, as well as then utilize it once again the next morning to detangle. It gets out all the knots without messing up my waves, as well as it feels effing amazing on my scalp. It doesn’t feel pokey at all. just really, truly good.

The “Sephora” label on it is already starting to fade, however it sure as heck doesn’t hurt the comb. This is the very best $8 I’ve spent there in a while.

Live like Pop Truffle Salt Popcorn

I may or may not have eaten half of this bag of online like Pop Truffle Salt Popcorn ($4.25) because I opened it a few days ago.

WHOOPS! I just tripped as well as they all fell into my mouth…

They aren’t very salty, oily, buttery or flavored, however there is a hint of truffle (I assumption that’s what it is). Anyway, they’re just good, as well as only 35 calories per cup!

Yup, they were one more HomeGoods find.

5 things I’ve Been Loving Lately

1. Mrs. laid-back on Instagram

WARNING: Do not — I repeat — DO NOT see Jenn’s (otherwise understood as “Mrs. Casual’s”) feed if you’re trying to curb your Target habit. She has a knack for discovering the cutest clothes, as well as she pieces together low-cost discovers into attire that look like you spent some major $$$ on them.

2. Going up as well as down the ladder

We’ve been doing a great deal of ascending as well as descending endurance training in that HIIT class I go to on Monday as well as Wednesday nights, as well as for the record…they’re both fantastic as well as awful at the exact same time.

This was BRUTAL.
In the plus column, I feel like question lady when I’m done. On the not-so-plus column, they feel like low-key abuse when you’re in the middle of them. Last night we went “down the ladder” by starting with 20 burpees (with a push-up!), complied with by four roughly 200-meter laps around the fitness center auto parking lot.

Then we did 15 much more burpees as well as three much more laps, then 10 much more burpees as well as two much more laps, up until lastly five much more burpees as well as one much more lap to totally surface us off, as well as we only had seven minutes to do the whole thing… I completed just after the seven minutes expired.

I like the portability of a workout such as this since you can do it essentially anywhere. All you requirement is a timer, a walkway or some other flat surface where you can decrease as well as do your burpees, as well as a auto parking great deal or a cul-de-sac to do the running.

3. having long lashes again

I stop utilizing this stuff in May, best around the time Tabs crossed over the Rainbow Bridge (at the time, I might barely keep in mind to clean my teeth, so a lash growth serum was not happening), as well as my lashes fell out as well as broke off from crying so much.

I’ve lastly gotten it together sufficient to begin utilizing Lash increase once again on a nightly basis, as well as when again, I have long, luscious lashes… This stuff is gold.

4. Pantry organizers from Amazon

I’m currently persuaded that one of the secrets to life is having an organized pantry, so I’ve been purging as well as organizing mine since when left unchecked it becomes a kitchen-based black hole where bag clips, flavor jars as well as whatever else disappears. situation in point: I discovered a can of Trader Joe’s beans in there that had expired…in 2007!

If you want something to vanish into the abyss — your ex, credit rating card debt, mental baggage — stick it in your pantry, man!

Anyway, I’m making a listing of pantry organizational doodads to keep the area good as well as neat, as well as I have my eyes on an expandable flavor organizer, which has two levels (IS THIS genuine LIFE?), lazy susans as well as expandable shelves to raise the cans to ensure that I can really see what’s in there.

5. great Food Made easy breakfast Burritos

I really never eat these for breakfast, LOL! Instead, I get one when I requirement a quick lunch or dinner, or whenever I just requirement to take the edge off a rumbly tummy.

My preferred one is the poultry Apple Sausage, which has sausage, egg whites, cheddar cheese, roasted potatoes, salsa, peppers as well as scallions. The eggs are soft however not rubbery, as well as the sausage isn’t excessively salty. It’s flavorful from the cheese as well as salsa, however it isn’t as well spicy. Zap one in the microwave for two minutes, as well as you have a yummy snack.

I stock up on them when they go on sale at Target, however be warned… I’ve unknowingly purchased expired food from Tar-ghay before (multiple times!), so always inspect the dates before putting any type of foodstuff in your cart.

5 things I’ve Been Loving Lately

1. Vanilla notes (and Lancôme La Vie Est Belle and Idôle)

Isn’t the smell of vanilla so comforting and cozy? I’ve been feelin’ vanilla lately but haven’t wanted to wear anything that smells too much like vanilla. I just want something a little bit vanilla. Like, as much as I love baking, I don’t necessarily want to walk around smelling like cake batter or Play-Doh. You know what I’m sayin’?

Lancôme La Vie Est Belle and Idôle recently caught my nose eye because both have notes of vanilla.

LOVE
La Vie Est Belle is a warm gourmand scent (a.k.a. a foodie fragrance!) with vanilla, iris (YES), patchouli and praline notes, and Idôle is a floral with notes of citrus, rose, jasmine and white musk layered over a vanilla base.

I hadn’t smelled them in person before they arrived at my doorstep, and I don’t know if it was just dumb perfume luck, but I love them! The vanilla is there, but it’s subtle, and both scents are so feminine and long-lasting, too.

I’ve been telling everyone I know who loves perfume about them!

2. Casabella Waterblock Gloves

Your paws (and your manicure) will thank you.
You know you’ve crossed into the land of “Adulting really Hard” when you have a favorite pair of cleaning gloves…but hey, I’ve tried every single brand under the sun, so let me just save you from a lifetime of cleaning glove misery — the Casabellas are THE BEST.

They’re the thickest ones I’ve found, so they’re strong and don’t fall apart quickly. I hand wash my dishes in very hot water, and a pair of this will last a good six months, whereas the other cheaper, thinner gloves might last three months, tops.

The Casabellas are also longer up the sleeve than a lot of cleaning gloves, so less water and soap drips into your gloves, which is NOT my favorite thing. These keep my hands and arms dry, dry, dry!

They also have a helpful lip at the end of the glove, which also stops water from sneaking in as well.

I gotten this pair at a local hardware and gardening store called Friedman’s up in Petaluma, but they’re also available online.

3. The chalk drawings on the sidewalk in front of Trader Joe’s

Chalk art!
It’s all about the little things, right? When I’m standing outside in line, waiting to shop at Trader Joe’s in the socially distanced line — which is never really that long; five minutes at the most — they have these chalk drawings on the sidewalk to tell people where to stand. The drawings are either a pleasant play on words or some sort of seasonally-related scribble like these pumpkins. I appreciate that little touch because it gives me something to look at while I’m waiting. always brings a smile to my face.

So thank you to whoever does these drawings every single week… You’re such a treasure!

4. colorful bowls from Costco

I gotten this set of incredibly shiny bowls on a whim last weekend, and I loooove them. The brand is Laurie Gates, and you get six stoneware ceramic bowls for $21.
We’ve been using them for soup, pasta, cereal — seriously, everything. You could probably even use them as serving bowls.

The outside of the bowls are all the same beautiful beige color, but when you look inside, each bowl has a different color and pattern. everyone in our family has already picked out their favorite. Connor loves the red one, I love the green one, and El Hub loves the blue one… They’re all incredibly cute and fit nicely in my hand.

Oh! — and they’re also deep, but not obnoxiously deep, so when I’m eating cereal or soup, liquid is less likely to splash over the edge.

5. cleaning ideas from Vanesa at Amaros cleaning on Instagram

MIND BLOWN! Vanesa and her husband run their own housekeeping company in Texas, and she shares very helpful ideas and shortcuts on how professionals clean appliances, surfaces and areas of a home. I’ve learned so much from her feed, and yes, I used the vacuum idea to clean my stove the other day and it absolutely worked! ?

4. truthful charm liquid Lipstick in BFF

What can I say? Old practices die hard, so while I wear a mask, I still 1) smile ? at strangers, as well as 2) wear ? lipstick. One I like is BFF by truthful Beauty. It’s a nude matte that doesn’t move, so when I have my mask on, it doesn’t transfer. Plus, the nude color is very pretty.

Honest charm is my BFF.
5. The Titan Games

This show pits physical fitness enthusiasts/everyday people against expert athletes in a crazy difficult challenge program race, as well as it’s held by Maui from Moana, a.k.a. the Rock, a.k.a. Dwayne Johnson.

It may noise cheesy, however it’s shockingly engrossing! extremely recommended! each time our household watches it, we applaud (scream, really!) for the routine men as well as gals.

Nails of the week: Duri burgundy Charade
1. painting my nails with Duri polish

This week’s color is burgundy Charade — which I pronounce “Sha-RHAD,” emphasis on “RHAD,” because lately the only voice I hear in my head is Moira’s on Schitt’s Creek. HAHAHA!

BEBE!

This under-the-radar family-run brand out of Brooklyn is a low-key beast in the best possible way. The polishes are pigmented, smooth, long-lasting and economical (just $8 a bottle). I’ve also been using their top coat and drying drops, and they work terrific too.

SUPER IMPRESSED!

2. Caroline Girvan’s workouts on YouTube

Caroline Girvan’s YouTube workouts are challenging, and she uses very little verbal instruction, so you kinda have to know what you’re doing already, but I sure do love the variety of her exercises.

I’m regularly trying moves I’ve never done before, which I love! challenges ye olde muscles in different ways, ya know?

Also, on days when I can’t manage someone on the other side of a screen yelling at me to dig deep or do one a lot more pushup or whatever, Caroline’s my go-to. Her videos have a short intro where she talks about the workout, but then during the video, all you hear is music and a series of beeps to let you know that a new exercise or a break is coming up while you see her working out on the screen with you.

It’s just me and my breathing, and some days, I like that.

Right now I’m really into her ab and core videos.

3. placing all of my mugs with the handles to the right…

I recently came across this idea in a how-to-organize video, and even though it’s the smallest little tweak, it works wonders! When I do this…my mug shelf looks less chaotic and better organized.

To the right, to the right…
4. speaking of organization videos…

They’re my new favorite how-tos on Youtube. I have a hard time letting go of things and hold onto items longer than I should, and I desperately don’t want to be that person anymore. No a lot more cluttered shelves, baby! Those are my first goals. After that, I’ll do the closets next.

When I enjoy these organizational how-to vids, it feels like I having a personal instructor by my side talking sense into me and telling me that I have the strength to pass on that pair of pants that 1) no longer fit me, and 2) I haven’t worn in five years.

Here are few of my favorites so far.

5. having an electric kettle with hot/warm water always around

Don’t ask me why I’ve always assumed one water had to be cold in buy to be consumed, but it never occurred to me until recently that I could drink water warm whenever I wanted to all throughout the day.

I have an electric kettle on the counter and now just keep it out so that I can get hold of a cup of warm water whenever I want!

Yes, I could easily heat up the water in the microwave, but I vow it tastes different when I warm it up in the kettle.

Speaking of kettles, how cute is this one?
